Major Changes in CUET 2025: Everything You Need to Know

The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) 2025 has undergone several changes aimed at improving efficiency and reducing student stress. Here’s a detailed look at the key modifications:

1. Reduction in Subjects

• The number of subjects has been reduced from 63 to 37, including 13 languages and 23 domain-specific subjects.
• Subjects such as Entrepreneurship, Teaching Aptitude, Fashion Studies, and Tourism have been removed.
• Admissions for these discontinued subjects will now be based on the General Aptitude Test (GAT).

2. Fully Computer-Based Test (CBT)

• The exam will now be conducted entirely online, removing the previous hybrid model.

3. Changes in Subject Selection

• Candidates can now choose up to five subjects, down from six.
• There is no restriction based on the stream studied in Class 12.

4. Standardized Exam Duration

• All exams will have a fixed duration of 60 minutes, ensuring consistency across subjects.

5. New Question Format

• Every question is now compulsory, with no options to skip or choose between alternatives.
• Each subject test consists of 50 questions, totalling 250 marks.
• The marking scheme includes +5 for correct answers and -1 for incorrect responses.

6. Introduction of the General Aptitude Test (GAT)

• The General Test has been renamed the General Aptitude Test.
• Students seeking admission in subjects removed from CUET can now rely on GAT scores.
